Goddess Mahakali is the most powerful and fierce form of Shakti, the divine feminine energy. She is the destroyer of evil and the liberator of souls. She is also the consort of Lord Shiva, the supreme god of Hinduism.
Mahakali is depicted as having ten heads, twenty arms, and three eyes on each face. She wears a garland of human skulls and a skirt of severed arms. She holds various weapons and stands on the calm and prostrate Shiva. She is the embodiment of time, change, and death.
Despite her terrifying appearance, Mahakali is the most compassionate and loving mother to her devotees. She protects them from all dangers and grants them spiritual enlightenment. She is easy to please and responds quickly to sincere prayers. She is worshipped during Navratri, Diwali, and other auspicious occasions.
